"The Chase" is the debut single album by Hearts2Hearts. It was released on February 24, 2025 with "The Chase" serving as the album's title track.

The physical album comes in 5 versions: Package, two Photo Book versions, and two Mini Book versions (NFC).

Background[]

The first rumors of SM Entertainment's new girl group spread as early as 2022, with an expected debut in the fourth quarter of that year,[1] however, it was pushed back multiple times.[2][3] On November 5, 2024, SM revealed that their new girl group will be debuting in the first quarter of 2025.[4]

On January 12, 2025, a VCR played during the second day of SM Entertainment's 30th anniversary concert in Seoul revealed that the eight-member group, named Hearts2Hearts, will debut sometime in February. The next day, it was announced that the group will make their debut on February 24, 2025.[5]

On February 3, it was revealed that Hearts2Hearts will debut with the single album "The Chase".[6] It was released on February 24.[7]

Composition[]

"The Chase" is a song that creates a mysterious and strange atmosphere with dreamy sounds and vocal melodies. A strong and unique bass synth-centered sound characterizing the mood change. Inspired by the story of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, where the keywords 'choice' and 'adventure' stand out, Kenzie wrote the first complete story of Hearts2Hearts. The lyrics give a strong message of 'I will make my own path' as well as emotions of excitement and curiosity about the new world that will unfold in the future.[8]

Meanwhile, "Butterflies" is a mid-tempo R&B song with vocal harmony, a rich bass line and guitar melody delivering warm emotions. It lyrically describes the moment facing the "today" that they have been dreaming of together.[9]

Commercial performance[]

According to Hanteo Chart, "The Chase" sold 231,648 copies during its first day on sale,[10] and 408,880 copies in its first week, breaking the highest first-week sales of any girl group debut album previously held by BABYMONSTER's BABYMONS7ER.[11]

On April 10, 2025, "The Chase" was certified Platinum by the KMCA for selling 250,000 units via Circle Chart.[1]
